Getting PID in Java

March 31, 2008 rajanpatel Leave a comment

I am currently working on something in Java at work - its been a while and am getting into it using the eclipse IDE – (I like it!).

One of the things I want to do is get the PID of the running java process (the JVM) – thought there would be something in the language to get this but looks like there is not and guess what a number ways to solve this problem as this useful blog entry indicates (thanks Ingo – you saved me some time at work getting sidetracked whilst I figured this one out on the web) -

(so far keeping a blog is useful – if nothing else for remembering how to do things like this in the future)

Revisit

Ok, I thought I would never maintain BLOG but I found out I am always learning new things in my day-to-day life be it work, home, leisure and just general information I come across.

I started keeping useful links in email, then moved to Google notes, then using a custom TODO application on my USB drive but something is still missing.

So since all my peers are using blogs to record their findings then I might as well see how good it is …. I see is as log of my trails….
